What Has the Parents’ Council Done This Year?
- 901 people reached through outreach, training, meetings and seminars
- 700 people attended “All Together Now” fun day
- 130 people consulted about the accessibility of Manor Heath playground
- 58 parents came to workshops and support groups
- 24 members attended parent’s open event in September
- 59 people consulted about Leisure facilities in Calderdale
- 38 members responded to ‘Short Break’ questionnaire
- 10 other parent groups
supported , helping hundreds of people throughout
the country set up parent councils - 8000 newsletters and other
information mailed to all our members, 87
professionals, 108 schools, 38 doctors and 54 non-members - 86 members who are parents of 81 disabled/SEN children kept in touch
- 10 Disability Equality trainers trained
- 90 professionals received Disability Equality training
- 8 parent Representatives sit on 16 strategic planning groups and attended 190 meetings
- 6 parents members worked on 1 PARK FOR ALL project and contacted 53 councillors
- 1 accessible roundabout installed — more accessible play planned
- 6 volunteer Management
committee members and 6 Personnel subcommittee
members manage the project - 6 articles published in local paper
- 4 reports compiled on COMMUNICATION, RESPITE, LEISURE and PLAYSPACES used to help plan services
- 2 Development Workers gave
presentations at 2 Scrutiny Committees, 2
conferences and 2 meetings of Children and Young People’s Management
Board - 1.5 staff = job share development worker term-time only + 21 hours administrative worker
